It's been quiet here at Violet Songbird Soap. And like most folks, I took some time off in July for some R & R. As much as I would like to say it was for some rest and relaxation, I have to say it was for recovery and recuperation! At the end of June, I awoke from a nap with an unsettling case of double vision. Tests revealed I had experienced a mild stroke. No blood clots, but after several tests, the stroke proved to be a warning of severe aortic stenosis. What this meant was that I needed a new heart valve – soon! (So, maybe my breathlessness and lack of stamina were something more than being old and overweight!) Many more tests ensued, primarily to see if I was a candidate for the newer procedure called a transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). In this procedure, the cardiologist feeds the valve through a groin artery and seats it into the heart over the old valve. This option became a reality for me and was the modus operandi for getting a new heart valve on July 16. It was successful, and while I am not up to dancing a jig quite yet, but I will start cardiac rehab next week, so look out Mick Jagger!
In the meantime, the inventory of Violet Songbird Soap has been replenished, and now there is lavender, lemongrass, renew, and heart soaps in the online store. You will also find two new products - Lavender and Lemongrass Lotions. They are made with skin loving ingredients and lightly scented with essential oils that soak into your skin leaving it soft and smelling luscious!
Thank you for your continued support in all things!
