Sunrise was born from a soap making day I had with my friend Leslie. She was goading me to get out of the house, and I was challenging her to give me a compelling reason to leave. No good movies were playing, I don’t eat restaurant food much anymore, and there weren’t any fairs or festivals going on that weekend. Then she suggested we get together and do a “crafty” thing. I said, “Want to learn to make soap?” “Okay”, she cautiously agreed. So that Saturday, we spent designing and creating soap. Leslie formulated a delicious fragrance I call Leslie’s Lemonade. It is a fresh lemony scent of litsea cubeba, bergamot, and lemon essential oils. But, because of measuring issues – grams, milliliters, ounces, we had a considerable amount extra of this blend. It was too good to waste, but not enough to make a new batch. So, I decided to add some sage to the blend. My thinking was that the citrus would be a morning energizer, and the sage would encourage wisdom. It smells lemony and herby. It is a very nice combination of essential oils. Of course, the colors would need to be the morning colors of a sunrise. Bright and vibrant! So, thanks to Leslie, Sunrise was born. Enjoy!
